Instructions:

Step 1: Cook the Orzo

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain the orzo, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water, and set aside.

Step 2: Marinate and Cook the Shrimp

In a small bowl, toss the shrimp with fresh lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

While the orzo is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Lemon Orzo Sauce

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer, scraping up any flavorful bits from the bottom of the skillet. Once it’s heated through, stir in the heavy cream and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 4: Combine the Orzo and Shrimp

Add the cooked orzo to the skillet with the lemon cream sauce, tossing to combine. If the mixture is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water to achieve your desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together to combine.

Step 5: Serve

Serve the Shrimp and Lemon Orzo immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and extra lemon wedges on the side for a burst of citrus.
