Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 1 pound (about 450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Cornmeal or flour, for dusting

For the Pizza Toppings:

  • 1/2 pound (225g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for garnish)

How to Make Shrimp Pizza

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

Prepare the Shrimp:

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt and black pepper to taste.

Cook the shrimp in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.

Roll Out the Pizza Dough:

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. If using a pizza stone, sprinkle cornmeal on a pizza peel or inverted baking sheet. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto the pizza peel.

Assemble the Pizza:

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.

Arrange the cooked shrimp, sliced cherry tomatoes, and sliced black olives evenly on top of the cheese.

Bake the Pizza:

Carefully transfer the assembled pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven, or place it directly on a baking sheet if not using a stone.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Finish and Serve:

Remove the shrimp pizza from the oven.

Sprinkle chopped fresh basil and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) over the hot pizza for added flavor and color.

Slice the pizza into wedges and serve immediately while hot.

Chef’s Note

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the rolled-out pizza dough for about 5 minutes before adding the toppings. This helps prevent the crust from becoming soggy under the weight of the toppings. Customize your shrimp pizza with additional toppings such as bell peppers, red onions, or spinach according to your preferences. Ensure the shrimp are not overcooked during the initial cooking process, as they will continue to cook in the oven with the pizza.
